Where can you install a 2play kiosk?

By Jake Thomas

2play Sports Kiosk on a field

One of the first questions we get from parks, schools, and HOAs is simple: where does this thing go? The short answer is almost anywhere people already play. The kiosk stands 68 inches tall on a 32-inch base, bolts to concrete or anchors into soil, and works indoors or out. Here's what we look for when picking a spot.

Put it where the play is

A kiosk works best within sight of the courts or fields it serves. If someone shows up to a pickleball court without a paddle, the kiosk should be the first thing they see, not something they have to go hunting for. Court entrances, the edge of a multi-use field, or the walkway between a parking lot and a playground are all great spots.

Give the solar panel some sun

Most of our kiosks are solar powered, so the panel on top needs a clear view of the sky.

Solar panel orientation guide

  • Best: panel facing south
  • Better: southeast or southwest
  • Good: west
  • Avoid trees, buildings, and awnings that cast shadows over the panel
  • Aim for at least 6 hours of direct sunlight a day

If a shaded spot is the only option, we also offer a hardwired configuration that skips the panel entirely.

Concrete or soil both work

Concrete installation Soil installation

Concrete is the simplest install. The base plate bolts straight down with four 1/2-inch anchors. The slab needs to be at least 4 inches thick and rated for 3000 PSI, which covers nearly every sidewalk and court apron out there.

Soil installs use a wider second base plate and four 26-inch ground anchors, so there's no pouring or curing. We recommend probing the ground first for rocks, and calling 811 before you drill so underground utilities are marked.

Either way, make sure the site drains well so water doesn't pool around the base.

What you'll need on install day

The whole install takes one person and basic hand tools: a socket set, a crescent wrench, and an Allen set, plus a hammer drill for concrete or an impact driver for soil. Two people make it easier, but it's not required. Every kiosk ships with a full step-by-step guide.

If you're not sure whether a location will work, send us a photo. We're happy to take a look.
